Colin Armstrong and Jason Thain won the 2008 Cochrane Rally by a slim margin of 12 seconds over Gord & Kathy Olsen. Group 2 once again claimed the top 3 positions with Kris & Jaclyn Schofield finishing 3rd in their 1987 Corolla GTS. The event featured a generous mix of ice, snow, deep snow, dry gravel, wet gravel and plenty of mud at the end.

Tight battles were fought in almost every vehicle class with a few novice teams punching well above their weight. Not all was smooth sailing however as Aaron Neumann and Keith Morison essentially wrote off their Honda Civic by venturing well off the road. BC rallyist John Geelen bent his classic Subaru by rolling it.

All-in-all the 2008 WCRC season opener featured plenty of action for the spectators while the competitors got a look at the new computerized timing equipment.
